AI Residency
Accelerating the Top 1% of Latin America AI Talent.
This is a paid, full-time, residency built around real-world execution. We create a structured, professional setting centered on hands-on missions and system-level problem-solving.
You will operate at a high-bar and are expected to perform alongside peers who meet the same engineering standards.
You will design and operate end-to-end AI systems in real-world settings, making critical architectural decisions on scalability, reliability, and cost.
Success hinges on technically justifying these trade-offs with clear reasoning. This high-caliber learning environment elevates your skills through rigorous feedback, peer challenges, and expert mentorship.
Completing the Factored AI Residency validates that you can operate at an elite level, execute complex system-level decisions, and perform alongside senior peers in the most demanding AI environments.
With Factored you will then deploy AI solutions for top U.S. and global companies and accelerate your career.

Yes. From day one, you are hired as a full-time employee (FTE) with a competitive salary and benefits. You are paid to learn during the calibration phase and continue as a Factored Engineer afterward.
- Programming & Engineering: Proficiency in Python and a solid understanding of software engineering principles.
- Machine Learning: Demonstrated knowledge of modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face) and experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP).
- Backend & MLOps: Experience building APIs and familiarity with production MLOps practices, including CI/CD, model versioning, monitoring, and infrastructure as code.
- Cloud & Containerization: Experience or knowledge in containerization and cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Communication & Soft Skills: B2/C1+ level of English, strong communication, critical thinking, and business acumen.
- Soft skills we look for include: Business Acumen, Communication, and Critical Thinking.
The Residency aims to enable experienced ML engineers to specialize in LLMs and Generative AI by working on real-world, production-grade systems aligned with industry standards—rather than academic or sandbox environments. The program also focuses on developing advanced technical and professional skills, providing hands-on projects to apply knowledge in practical settings, and preparing participants for challenging roles and responsibilities within U.S. and global companies.
The selection process typically includes an application review, a recruiter screening interview, an assessment, two technical interviews, and final selection for program enrollment.
Yes, as long as your current commitments finish as soon as you start our program. This is an exclusive training program. That requires your full-time commitment.
Participants should expect to dedicate approximately [45 hours/week] to the program, including live sessions, independent learning, and project work.
Residency performance is continuously evaluated using multiple signals, not a single assessment. Methods include regular mock interviews with structured feedback, capstone projects reviewed by TTOs and peers, and hands-on lab assignments (FactorEdX) with autograder evaluation. Beyond formal evaluation, engagement (call participation, work delivery, visible progress) is monitored. Underperformance is addressed proactively with guidance and targeted follow-up. Termination for performance is rare; significant effort supports improvement. The main risk for termination is a sustained lack of engagement (missing calls, no results, unwillingness to apply feedback) despite support. The residency maintains high standards while heavily investing in engineers' success.
Yes, participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion recognizing their achievements.
Participants have access to instructors and peer support throughout the program, along with all necessary learning materials, project guidelines, software, and tools required for assignments. Additionally, Factored provides a laptop for training and day-to-day work.
Yes. Factored is a remote-first company. However, you must be based in Latin America to ensure time-zone alignment with our team and U.S. clients.
Participants are hired on a full-time (FTE), permanent basis. Full details regarding compensation, working hours, and program requirements are shared during the offer stage, before the program begins. If a participant becomes sick or needs to take leave, they should inform their program coordinator as soon as possible. The program accommodates temporary absences due to illness or emergencies, with options to catch up on missed content, provided it does not affect operations, is not prolonged, and does not involve missing key deadlines.
Upon successful completion of the initial calibration modules, you will be integrated into Factored’s engineering teams to work on high-impact projects for Fortune 500 companies and top U.S. tech startups.
